Comparison
Silent Fail vs Cronitor
Cronitor is a bigger product aimed at engineering teams, with per seat pricing and a wider feature surface. Silent Fail is a single purpose tool for people whose automations live in n8n, Make or Zapier. The right choice depends mostly on whether you are a team with an on call rota or one person with a dozen workflows.
Where Cronitor is better
More alert channels. Their pricing page lists all ten alert integrations on the Business plan, including SMS and on call alerts. The free Hacker plan includes email and Slack. We send email and nothing else, so if you need SMS or a paging rota, we are not the tool.
A bigger free tier than ours. Their Hacker plan is free forever with 5 monitors, against our 3.
Built for teams. Their Business plan charges per user, which means it is designed around several people sharing monitors, and they list status pages and a six month data retention window.
Where the pricing models differ
Cronitor Business is $2 per monitor per month plus $5 per user per month. That is usage based, so it scales smoothly from small, and it keeps scaling as you add monitors.
Ours is flat. Solo is $9/mo for 25 monitors and Pro is $29/mo for unlimited monitors.
Which is cheaper depends entirely on your count, so do the arithmetic for your own number rather than taking either of our words for it. At a handful of monitors Cronitor is likely cheaper. At twenty or more on one account, flat pricing tends to win. Their Enterprise tier starts from $6,000 a year, which tells you who the product is ultimately built for.
Where we are different
Written for no code platforms. Our setup guides are for the n8n HTTP Request node, the Make HTTP module and Webhooks by Zapier, not for cron and not for a language SDK.
One email per outage. One alert when a monitor goes down, nothing more until it recovers, then one all clear. It is enforced by a single flag set when the alert goes out and cleared only on recovery.
Generous grace by default, and daily schedules in your timezone. New monitors get twice their interval as grace, and a daily 09:00 deadline means 09:00 where you are, including across daylight saving changes.

Which one should you actually pick
If you want the broadest tool, more alert channels, or a bigger free tier, pick Cronitor. That is a real answer and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Pick Silent Fail if your automations live in n8n, Make or Zapier, you want setup guidance written for those specific tools rather than for cron, and you want one email per outage instead of a stream of them.
You can also try the free webhook tester first, with no account, to confirm your workflow is firing at all.
